I forgot that Newman collaborated with Jeanie Seally. The lede really hits on Newman's appeal.

I was gobsmacked, and Seally was great to talk with. She remembers him as this very "nice young man," and I couldn't believe the bounty of his early work. Now I supposed I have to plow through his scores...
